Cerec all-porcelain restorations
Tooth coloured or amalgam fillings fill holes in the teeth but there is no firm bond between the filling and the remaining dentine or enamel. So, over time, the natural tooth beside the filling slowly chips away. A new replacement filling requires a little bit more tooth to be removed to provide ‘a key’ to hold it in. In time, the same process repeats itself, followed by a even larger filling again. Next, the whole corner fractures off the tooth with an even bigger filling needed. Eventually a crown becomes necessary with removal of the outsides of tooth, which are usually the best of the remaining natural tooth substance.
Many people have ‘a heavy bite’, very destructive to teeth and which simply accelerates the damage.
A Cerec all-porcelain inlay/crown is the answer. Cerec design is very different than any other 'traditional' filling/crown system. The cavity sides are very nearly parallel, the bonding agent a glass-like layer forming a parallel interface within the computer-designed restoration, also with parallel sides, all fitting immovably together, bonding very powerfully with enamel and dentine: much stronger and so much more like the original natural tooth. Cerec is the best you can give to all those heavily-filled teeth at the back.
